County Roscommon belongs to the province of Connaught and is situated in the middle of Ireland. The county is bordered by the Shannon River in the east and the Suck River to the west. It covers an area of 2547 km² and the county town is Roscommon. Here the Roscommon County Museum is located, displaying the history and heritage of the county. Another important city is Athlone.
